This is a painting of the coastline around County Down in Northern Ireland. It’s rocky and windy and can be very wild but incredibly beautiful. I come to this little beach when I am there and need to clear my head.

Looking Back
Looking Back

The coastline around the Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland has the most beautiful windswept beaches and rocks that reach out into the sea. Just off the seaside town of Donaghadee you will find the Copeland Islands, important for populations of sea birds and coastal plants. They are truly magical to visit. This painting looks back towards the town from the Copelands.

Into the Forest
Into the Forest

When I walk through a really old forest thick with bracken, hear the sounds and smell the smells I am taken back to when I was a little girl running about and finding primroses at the foot of the trees. For me these woodlands are almost about a feeling rather than a place. However just in case you wanted to know, this particular woodland is just outside a little village called Caplane in the Gironde.

The Waiting
The Waiting

We all wait for things, sometimes we don’t even know what we are waiting for. A storm? A friend? An idea? Something to appear on the horizon to fill us with joy or something deeper.

Shady River
Shady River

There is nothing more magical than a shady river. This one is called L’Eyre and runs from the Landes to the Basin d’Arcachon in South West France and the trees along its banks are old woodland as opposed to the more common maritime pines you see in the region. Its sandy banks make for a tranquil resting place to stop and take a moment.

In the springtime when most things haven’t really got going you can count on bluebells to really put on a great show. It’s one of the highlights of my year - bluebell woods, nice walk, pub lunch. Done.

Hope Cove Low Tide
Hope Cove Low Tide

Hope Cove is a place I have visited a lot and I will never tire of the view of Bolt Tail disappearing into the sea and the jagged lines of rock that appear at low tide with sandy channels in between. And just round the corner are the best rock pools ever.

Richmond Bridge

I’ve taken many many walks along the Thames and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it the same twice. This side of the bridge is my favourite - away from most of the hustle and bustle. You can walk along to Ham and get the little ferry home again.
